Within the framework of the 14th Session of the OIC Statistical Commission (OIC-StatCom), SESRIC, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the International Forum on TOSSD (IFT) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), organised a side event on “The First Five Years of TOSSD: Tracking Support for the SDGs and Helping Monitor International Development Co-operation in All Its Forms” on 1 October 2025 at SESRIC Headquarters in Ankara, Türkiye.

The side event marks the beginning of a new practice of the OIC-StatCom, holding for the first time side events on emerging issues of global statistical relevance. The side event presented the latest developments in the framework of Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD), an international standard for measuring the full array of resources mobilised to promote the sustainable development of developing countries. It provided insights on how TOSSD can help close data gaps on sustainable development finance and enhance the transparency of support received and provided by OIC countries.

The session opened with welcoming remarks by H.E. Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK, Director General of SESRIC, and Ms. Julia BENN, Head of the IFT Secretariat. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Onur ÇAĞLAR, Director of Statistics and Information at SESRIC. The panel brought together distinguished speakers, including Dr. Areef SULEMAN, Group Chief Economist at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB); Ms. Marisa Berbegal IBÁÑEZ, Lead Analyst and Coordinator at the IFT Secretariat; Mr. Abdulhamit ÖZTÜRK, Coordinator of the Statistical Outreach Section at SESRIC; and Mr. Fahri Burak AYDOĞDU, Coordinator at the Department of Strategy Development of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The panel featured exchanges on the role of TOSSD in monitoring international development co-operation, showcasing practical experiences and insights from OIC countries, SESRIC, the IsDB, and the IFT Secretariat. The discussion also underscored how TOSSD captures emerging forms of collaboration, including South-South and triangular co-operation, blended finance, and Islamic finance, and strengthens data-driven policymaking to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
